California Legislature Prioritizes Affordable Housing In 2022

$250M+ CalHome funding secured and 4 major housing bills approved this year

In 2022 Habitat for Humanity San Luis Obispo advocated for Governor Newsom to apply part of the nearly $100 billion state budget surplus toward investments in affordable housing throughout the state. Our advocacy efforts paid off when $250 million was approved for the state’s CalHome program in the 2022-2023 budget, with a promise of an additional $100 million for the 2023-2024 budget. This victory will ensure development of affordable homes throughout the state, and support HFHSLOCO’s work in revitalizing local neighborhoods, preserving existing homes, and building affordable housing.

Join Us In Welcoming Two New Employees

Collin Prell

Collin Prell joins us as part of our Community Engagement team, Studying history and political science at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Collin is originally from Marin County, but he can can often be found playing tennis or hiking around San Luis Obispo

He will be responsible for connecting with community and student groups, particularly at Cal Poly.

Matt DiIonno

Matt DiIonno joins HFH as an Associate in our San Luis Obispo ReStore.

He grew up in New Jersey before moving to California in 2020, where he immediately felt at home. In his free time he likes to row and camp at Santa Margarita Lake, and make music with friends.

Matt will focus on store operations and coordinating donation pickups throughout SLO County.

Upcoming Events

The San Luis Obispo ReStore will be closed to allow our staff to enjoy the holidays in November and December.

Our ReStore will be closed Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday. We will be closing early on December 23 through Christmas Day. We are also closed on New Year's Eve.
