Watch Spectrum of Dreams Performances on YouTube

Check out the full performances from our Spectrum of Dreams event on our AZA United's YouTube page! With nearly 500 attendees and 20 amazing talents and performers, the night was filled with unforgettable moments—from dancing and singing, to storytelling and comedy! Watch these amazing talents today by clicking the link below!

We are particularly excited to share during the event last month; a member of the audience took notice of the amazing talents and invited one of the performers to play the national anthem at the Park University Women's Basketball game in Gilbert. They then posted the performer's video to their social channels, and it went viral. As a result of that,
NBA legend Dominique Wilkins saw his performance and the Atlanta Hawks have offered to fly him out to play the anthem at one of their games. This is the power of creating a supportive platform where neurodiverse individuals can showcase the great things they can do! They all are so deserving of our support.

AAC Device Evaluations Now Available at AZA

AZA United is pleased to announce that our Speech & Language Services team is now approved to provide Augmentative and Alternative Communication Evaluations (AAC) for individuals needing a communication device.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices (AAC) can be a gamechanger for individuals with autism who experience communication challenges, providing new ways to express themselves and communicate with others effectively. The first steto getting an AAC device for your child is to complete an evaluation with an approved Speech Language Pathologist. AZA United's speech therapy team is now approved to provide these evaluations for Mercy Care members. There is no cost to eligible members!

There are various types of AAC including light-tech and speech generating devices. Our evaluations determine what kind of AAC is needed to support the individuals' communication. Once approved, AZA United will also provide training for parents and caregivers on how to program and use the device.

To learn more about the benefits of AAC, check out our blog: How AAC Devices Benefit Children with Autism

“Cynthia had lived in a hospital for over 20 years because her extreme behavior challenges made her a threat to herself and others. Her guardian and the hospital tried several ways to help her without much success or hope. When our Clinical Family Coaching accepted her referral, they began a comprehensive evaluation and developed an individualized treatment plan that required a lot of outside of the box thinking and interdisciplinary work with the hospital, DDD, and group home staff. After 2 years of very hard work, Cynthia has moved into the community, enjoys her roommate, has a full and meaningful schedule, and is happier than ever!” - AZA Clinical VP
