Join us for our next panel event on Tuesday, December 9 from 3:30 - 5 p.m. for a powerful discussion on how public involvement professionals can support and engage targeted communities with compassion and sensitivity amid heightened fear and uncertainty. Presenters from Latino Network’s Community Defense Program, Innovation Law Lab, and the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) will share resources and insights for centering safety and trust while advancing inclusive public processes.

Metro's Willamette Cove Nature Park Project: People Shaping Place
Metro is transforming a 27-acre former industrial site along the Willamette River in North Portland into a future nature park. The design process has paired cleanup planning with extensive community and Tribal engagement to ensure the park reflects the land’s history, ecology and community vision.
The project website highlights how feedback from Tribes, community members, and the Metro Parks and Nature science team shaped the park’s design, featuring specific comments to show how their input is reflected in the different park elements.

Restoring Civility in Chaotic Times

Given the events of this year alone, the lingering threat of political violence and extremism requires a strong sense of urgency and immediate action. Join Brown Hope and We Can Listen to listen and learn from a panel of local experts on civics, de-escalation, and crossing political divides in an intentional space. After the panel, there will be an opportunity to participate in facilitated breakout discussions about how to restore the dignity and respect needed for a healthy, thriving democracy.

Metro's Nature in Neighborhoods Community Choice Grants
Join community members and advocates, design professionals, and staff from local cities and parks districts to take community parks ideas and turn them into project plans. The project plans you help create will then be voted on by community members across Clackamas County.
For this first vote, Clackamas County residents age 11 and older can vote for up to ten of the 83 proposed projects. Choices include nature play areas, new and extended trails, habitat restoration and more!

Bend Reed Market Bridge Project
Reed Market Road is a vital east-west arterial in southeast Bend. It is the only road south of Greenwood Avenue that connects 27th Street to the west side of the river. However, every day 6-8 trains cross the road and can stop traffic in excess of 20 minutes.
Big changes are coming to eliminate the at-grade railroad crossing and replace it with a bridge that places Reed Market Road over the railroad.

Community Relations Specialist

Salary Range: $70,748 - $104,257 annually
The essential responsibilities for the Community Relations Specialist may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Establishes and maintains relationships with key stakeholders in the community, including neighborhood representatives, and community-based organizations.
- Manages the port’s public tour program and supports other port tours as needed.
- Manages the port’s Lecture Series program.
- Coordinates External Affairs department sponsorship of outside entities, events and programs.
- Assists in the preparation of, research for, and writing of materials, publications, and electronic communications as necessary.
- Manages Community Relations calendar.
- Represents the port at public meetings which can occur at various times during the day, evenings or weekends.
- Works with the Director of Communications to develop and deliver thoughtful messaging representing the port’s interests while encouraging dialogue with the public and stakeholders.

Multicultural Outreach Coordinator

Salary Range: $60,258 - $90,376 annually (Commensurate with qualifications, experience and internal equity)
The Community Outreach Coordinator provides outreach and education that engages diverse communities, providing them with accurate and engaging information and resources about organ, eye and tissue donation throughout our service area in Oregon, SW Washington, and Western Idaho. This role supports work on the state donation registries, coordinates Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) partner relations, manages and presents high school education materials and resources for organ, eye, and tissue donation, and develops strong partnerships in identified multicultural and diverse communities, particularly Latinx and Spanish- speaking communities.
