Rhonda Musak, Acting Coach

As an acting coach, I help actors unlock the magic in their acting.
In just one class, Rhonda helped me work through a block I'd had for months! She makes her class feel like a family and encourages true freedom of expression. I felt like I'd worked with her for weeks in just that short amount of time and she seemed to know exactly what direction I needed to go. A great class for anyone looking to explore their work from a new perspective!

As the summer extends into fall here on the East Coast, it's hard to believe that we will (finally!) be off to the polls next week and giving thanks by the end of the month.

This whole year for me has been a whirlwind and I'm almost shocked to say that dates are just about nailed down for my annual year-end workshop. See details below and save the date for Leap with Passion into 2017!

But before that, I hope you will join both myself and Bobby Holder as we co-lead our second acting intensive this year:

ACT: A 1-Day Intensive
Acting, Career Choices, and
Thriving in Film, TV & Theatre

This 6-hour acting intensive will be held on Saturday, November 19 and will feature:
  • an NYC agent -- meeting and film submission
  • my one-of-a-kind strategy to fantastic cold readings, and
  • Bobby Holder's phenomenal, not-to-be-missed breakdown of the agent interview
It's going to be a powerful day! Complete details are below and space is limited so register now to ensure your spot.

Complete details are also below for my weekly and ongoing  Drop-In Acting Class. I'm blown away each week as my students stretch and expand beyond what they thought possible. Please join us!

And finally, if you've been meaning to read more plays, then join us for the  next  Book Club for Actors . There are still a few spaces available and we will be discussing the work of David Mametduring our final book club meeting of 2016. Details are below.

Thank you, my wonderful Art & Soul Acting community. Each time I connect with you over the soulful art of acting, my life becomes more indelibly blessed.

ACTING INTENSIVE - 11/19
What does it take to create a successful career as an actor? Put the pieces together during this dynamic acting/business-of-acting intensive and complete the day strong by submitting a filmed scene to our featured agent. Magic!

ACT: A 1-Day Intensive
Acting, Career Choices, and Thriving in Film, TV & Theatre

Co-Led by Rhonda S. Musak & Bobby Holder

Both Bobby and Rhonda have seen it again and again: highly skilled actors doing themselves in in the audition room by making a series of small technical errors. It is heartbreaking! Sometimes, the mistakes are in the cold reading and sometimes the mistakes are in the interview and, more often than not, they are in both.

But this doesn't have to be the case. Technical errors can be easily corrected. And once corrected, the actor's game realigns to a much higher level allowing their acting work and their talent to shine through so they can book the role and do what they love most-act.

IN THIS 1-DAY INTENSIVE:

* Agent Meet & Greet: Meet an agent.
You'll start the day informed and inspired with a meet & greet with our featured NYC agent. This will be an opportunity to meet the agent and hear about their work and their agency. The agent will depart after this meet & greet, but the conversation will help set the course for the work that you will be doing during the rest of the workshop...which will lead to a filmed submission of your work to this agent.

* Agent Interview: Bobby is going to repair your interviewing mistakes and upgrade your interviewing skills.
Have you ever struggled to understand exactly what is required in order to give a powerful agent interview? Bobby's one-of-a-kind, perspective-shifting approach to the agent interview will leave you confidence that no matter where you are in your career you can ace it. He will teach you how to take the awkward out of the situation so you can be in control and present yourself in a way that will leave a both an excellent and lasting impression.

* Cold Reading: Rhonda is going to iron out your cold reading errors and structure your cold reading technique.
If you want to book the job -- and you definitely do! -- then you absolutely must nail the cold reading. Sometimes actors approach cold readings in a throw-up-your-hands-and-hope-for-the-best fashion-a haphazard method, at best. Weather for film, TV or stage, having a structured approach to cold readings guarantees that you will be able to make the most powerful acting choices when the pressure is on. Rhonda will lead you through her clear, comprehensive and structured approach to cold readings that will put the power in your hand so you can get the most out of cold readings at every audition.

* Film Submission: Film your work from the day.
To complete the day strong, and to also bring us right back to where we began, Rhonda & Bobby will film your slate/pitch and the scene you will have just prepared during the cold reading portion of the day. The filmed work will then be submitted to the agent you met earlier in the day.

Space is limited.

Fee:

BOOK THAT JOB BLOG
Delve deeper into the craft and business of acting with articles that break it all down and build you up.

Looking to give your acting that "special something"? Look no further than given circumstances as a powerful catalyst to help you unleash the magic in your acting work.

"When we let the circumstances dictate what we do, everything will have a reason, will seem perfectly natural, truthful. It's only when we don't understand the circumstances that we have to 'act,' that we have to fake it."
Stella Adler

I had been working in class with two students on a scene from the play My Thing of Love by Alexandra Gersten. One of my students was challenged by several lines of text where her character was recounting a past incident.

I asked my student several questions which led to the creation of a very specific exploration. As my student fully immersed herself in that exploration along with the text, the scene sprung to life.

Astonished by the actor's quick and complete turnaround, my class almost all at once turned to me and exclaimed, "How did you know to do that?!?"...

Smooth Sailing the Up Down Paradoxical Life of an Actor
by Rhonda S. Musak

A few days ago, I had one of those days where it seemed like everything I did fell completely flat. There was a miscommunication regarding a workshop I was creating, there were answers that I needed from e-mails that I was urgently waiting...and waiting for, and my two-thirds completed solo show was completely stuck.

That evening, a close friend of mine-also an actor and acting coach-was staying with me from out of town. This gave me a perfect opportunity to vent to someone who knows and understands. I was only too happy to recount my day's trials and tribulations using, no doubt, my sad-sack voice.

The next morning...
