November 2018
Introducing the Monthly Library Newsletter
Welcome to the inaugural issue of the Roanoke Higher Education Center Library monthly newsletter! We hope this newsletter will help Center students, staff and faculty stay better informed of library announcements, new books and resources, research tips, and library services.
Announcements:
New Interlibrary Loan System
In August the library adopted Tipasa, an interlibrary loan processing system replacing ILLiad. If you have previously used ILLiad, your account has been transferred -- no need to create a new account! You may also continue submitting ILL requests directly from WorldCat Discovery and EBSCO databases.

New Books
Featured new additions to our print collection:

  • Leadership: In Turbulent Times by Doris Kearns Goodwin
  • Heartland: A Memoir of Working Hard and Being Broke in the Richest Country on Earth by Sarah Smarsh
  • Chasing New Horizons: Inside the Epic First Mission to Pluto by Alan Stern & David Grinspoon
  • How to Taste: The Curious Cook's Handbook to Seasoning and Balance by Becky Selengut
  • Your Heart is a Muscle the Size of a Fist (Roanoke Valley Reads pick for 2018!)
  • Heart: A History by Sandeep Jauhar

Featured Resource:
NoodleTools
NoodleTools is an online research management platform. It allows students to organize their information as they work on projects. Users may take notes, create outlines, collaborate with peers, and generate citations all in one place. NoodleTools also allows integration with Google Docs so you can work seamlessly. (Note: when initially creating a NoodleTools account you must be connected to the RHEC network for authentication purposes.)

This Month's Book Display:
Personal Development & Growth
Personal development is the lifelong process of improving oneself, whether its through furthering education, gaining new skills, or working on personal relationships. This month the library is featuring some of the best personal development books from our collection. These books all focus on self-improvement, goal setting, and personal growth.
