Councilmember Message
Thanksgiving
As we enter the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons, we need to step back and look at the many blessings we are grateful for. In 1789 George Washington declared Thanksgiving to be a day of “…prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God…”

I am grateful for the many personal blessings I have in my life. I am thankful for my wonderful wife, precious children and son-in-laws and my beautiful grandchildren. I am grateful for the blessing of good health. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve with you my fellow citizens in representing the great city of Orem.
President Ronald Reagan said, “If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God then we will be a nation gone under.”

Hopefully at this wonderful time of year we can be grateful for the blessings we have and we can reach out to help others.

I will finish with another quote from Ronald Reagan, “We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”

I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas!

— Councilmember Terry Peterson
