GIVE THANKS!
Our 2ndAnnual Thanksgiving Scavenger Huntwill be the week of November 18-22. MVLCS students, staff and volunteers will be taking a neighborhood walk collecting food items for Lutheran Social Services. LSS will then distribute the items to families in need this holiday season.
Last year, we delivered 284 bags and collected 555 items.
Mrs. Karner’s 1st graders and Tall Wood Lane (North) were the winning class and street. What will the stats be this year?
Please think and pray how you might be able to participate in this fun event to make it successful again this year. We will need family volunteers to:
* bring in paper bags
* put together our collection bags that will explain how we want to partner with our neighbors in collecting items to make a Thanksgiving meal
* walk with the students to deliver the collection bags at the beginning of the week
* walk with the students to go back at the end of the week to pick up any donated items
* bring in wagons to help students carry the donations back to school
* help count and bag the donated items once the students return
Then finally, at the end of that week, we will celebrate Thanksgiving together by having our annual Friendship Soup Luncheon. Watch for more information coming in November.
FRIENDSHIP SOUP
An annual school tradition at Mountain View is coming up on Friday, November 22. Friendship Soup is an event held in our gymnasium for all students and families preschool through grade 5.
Everyone will eat soup, bread, and dessert together in the gym. It's a fun way to start Thanksgiving break.
Elementary students will prepare a class soup in the morning with the ingredients brought in by the parents (please see your classroom sign up).
Preschool families will be asked to provide desserts and bread/rolls.
If you are able to help volunteer with set up at 8:45 on Friday and clean up afterwards, please let your classroom teacher or the school office know.
Thank you for all your help!
Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Cross Country Teams and Girls Volleyball Team
The girls finished second in the 5th and 6th grade division!
This is the first year that MVLS has had enough girls to field a team. They rocked it! 4th and 5th graders were competing against 5th and 6th graders from Faith Lutheran, Day school, Alexander Dawson, Meadows, LOG, etc.
The boys finished in third place in the same age groups and divisions as the girls. Way to go Eagles!!!
The girls volleyball team had a successful season and made the playoffs, only to lose in a tight match for the finals.
We are so proud of all our athletes!
Don't Forget to Turn Your MarkersIntoEnergy!
Our beautiful Crayola marker is located in the front entrance hallway ready for donations!!
To participate, simply bring in used markers (with or without caps) and place them in the HUGE Crayola marker in the Preschool hallway or the school office.
