New Jersey Bay Islands Initiative

2025 Annual Field Trip

This past September, OCSCD staff members Becky Laboy and Kristin Adams joined the New Jersey Bay Islands Initiative (NJBII) fourth annual field trip, hosted by the Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve (JCNERR) and Rutgers University Marine Field Station (RUMFS) in Tuckerton. The NJBII brings together numerous stakeholders working to protect and restore New Jersey's bay islands. During the field trip, participants explored the Coastal Zone Survey with USDA-NRCS Soil Scientist David Steinmann, who demonstrated how soil data informs critical restoration efforts. Read the full story and see photos from the field trip on our blog!
