Meet Miss Latifa

Miss Latifa lives in the village of Limanfam in Northern Ghana - a village which recently received a borehole, bringing clean water to their community for the first time. Miss Latifa and the other women in her community were so anxious to use the new borehole that they showed up to use it before the hand pump was installed. Our native crew didn't have the heart to turn them away, so they spent an entire day, sun up to sun down, filling their water containers by hand before they could resume the work of installing the hand pump and turning over the new symbol of hope to the community.

Miss Latifa told us that before the borehole, "getting access to clean water was extremely difficult. We had no choice but to walk 45 minutes each way, making many trips to get water from a dam that is not safe for human consumption. The community has been sharing the dam water with the animals for many years. Because of this, there are many cholera outbreaks and other diseases affecting the community which results in financial loss and leaves many in poverty. Academic performance of the students, especially girls, goes down because the children spend their time in search of water during the time they are supposed to be in school." She further said, "the most important resource for sustaining lives is water. Water is life."

She does not know how to express her gratitude for having access to clean water and says it will improve their lives and reduce exposure to diseases caused by unclean water. She concluded by saying that she liked the fact that Family Humanitarian not only gave them clean water, but also trained them on personal hygiene and sanitation. She said that she has really learned a lot that will bless her family. She and the entire village said they will be praying that Family Humanitarian will be able to continue to support communities and change lives.

As you look for ways to bless the lives of others this holiday season, we would be honored if you would consider giving the gift of clean water for life to more people like Miss Latifa!

DELTA

Family Humanitarian recently enrolled in Delta’s SkyBonus program. If you link our account to yours it will not take away any miles from your SkyMiles account, but Delta will donate BONUS SKY MILES to Family Humanitarian each time you fly. This enables us to visit, teach, and mentor the various places we serve while saving on the cost of airfare, therefore using our funds to do more good. If you have flown Delta in the past year, if you have a delta sky miles account, or if you have a Delta flight booked please read on. We can enter flights taken within the last year so if you flew Delta for your expedition we can get some credit.

There are three ways to insure that Family Humanitarian gets credit:

1) To insure that Family Humanitarian gets credit for all future bookings:

ADD FAMILY HUMANITARIAN'S SKYBONUS NUMBER TO YOUR DELTA PROFILE

5) Enter Family Humanitarian's SkyBonus ID US0090448 and click Save.

Once saved, the SkyBonus ID will populate on the Passenger Information screen on delta.com bookings. It is important to note that you must be logged into the SkyMiles account first for the SkyBonus ID to pre-populate on the passenger information screen.

2) For bookings that have already been made, but not flown (or for passengers who do not have a SkyMiles account):

For new reservations - Simply go in to the Passenger Information Screen (where they gather the passenger's full name, date of birth, gender, etc) and manually enter the number. The SkyBonus box is at the bottom of this page (below where you would enter your SkyMiles number). Simply check the box and enter the SkyBonus ID for Family Humanitarian - US0090448. For existing reservations, access the existing reservation and locate the SkyBonus box to enter the Family Humanitarian number as instructed above.

3) If anyone has flown on Delta within the last year and can locate the ticket number (not the confirmation number - the ticket number will begin with 006), please email that ticket number along with the last name of the passenger to us and we can also submit that for retroactive credit.
