It's hard to believe the Holiday Season is once again upon us!


We have put together your guide to Thanksgiving crafts to have your kids help prepare for the festivities! We have also found an easy to make recipe that the children can participate in.


As it is the Season of Giving, we have also put together a few simple ways to give back if you would like to this year!

Cream Biscuit Recipe

A great recipe that the kids can help make for Thanksgiving! Add some more fun by cutting the biscuits into fun shapes!


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of self-rising flour
  • 1 1/2 cups of heavy whipping cream

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 475 degrees
  • Lightly coat rimmed baking sheet or cast iron skillet with vegetable oil
  • Add flour to mixing bowl, slowly pour in cream. Stir gently until just combined
  • Pour biscuit dough on a floured countertop. Gently pat or roll to 1/2 in thick
  • Cut biscuits out, place on sheet leaving about 1 inch between
  • Place in preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes

Directions:

  • Start by using outdoor time as a prep for this activity and have your little one collect leaves
  • Tape the paper onto the table, have your child place their leaves wherever they want them and tape them down onto the paper
  • Pour red, orange and yellow paint into a cup and let your little one get to work!
  • Once they are all finished, remove the leaves to reveal the masterpiece

Directions:

  • Paint your toilet paper roll with brown paint
  • Cut out feather shaped pieces from red, yellow and orange construction paper
  • Have your children write (or tell you) what they are thankful for on each feather
  • Time to make the face: cut out a small beak and feet and add googley eyes to the roll
  • Attach the feathers and enjoy!

Ways to give back this Holiday Season

  • Bake dog or cat treats and bring them to a local animal shelter
  • Bake cookies with your children and deliver them to your local police or fire station
  • Donate blankets to a local homeless shelter
  • Have your kids make handmade cards and deliver them to local nursing homes or mail them to troops overseas
  • Run or walk in a local 5k being held for a good cause
