Discipline Office & Student Services Corner
Greetings from Mrs. Humphries

As we begin another term of remote learning, I would like to take this time to thank our YSGA’s parents, students, and teachers for continued dedication, commitment, and support.
We are grateful to be one of the few schools throughout the county that offers live lessons daily to our students. To ensure your scholar is most successful with remote learning, it is crucial your scholar attends the live sessions, completes and turns in assignments, and takes advantage of the help-tutoring sessions provided. Remember to follow up with your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns, we want to hear from you.
Let’s make every day count!
Lights! Be up and ready to start the day, log in by 8:45 am.
Cameras! All cameras must on, we need to see faces.
Action! Let’s be active, attentive, and ready to learn.

As Young Scholars prepare to enter school for in-person learning, please be aware that any medication which needs to be given during school hours must follow the guidelines outlined on the Health Tab of our website.youngscholarscharter.org. All medications must be in the original pharmacy/ or packaging container. The need for any medication of a rescuing nature MUST be accompanied by an emergency care plan like an Asthma Action Plan or Food Allergy Action Plan, as well as detailed MD orders with a physician's signature. We also require the parent's written signature. ASTHMA is one of the most common chronic conditions in childhood and is characterized by wheeze, cough, tight chest, difficulty breathing. Signs indicating the need for emergency treatment are: when quick-relief medications (like Albuterol) aren’t working when rescue medication (like Albuterol) is not lasting 4 hours, Wheezing or chest tightness is severe, the child cannot talk or walk due to difficulty breathing, Lips/fingernails turn blue/grey. If your child has asthma, please be sure to have an Asthma Action Plan completed by your child’s physician for school, signed by you, AND PROVIDE RESCUE MEDICATION TO SCHOOL. AS always, I am available for any questions you may have.

Talk About It: IS IT BULLYING?

  • When someone says or does something unintentionally hurtful and they do it once, that’s RUDE.
  • When someone says or does something intentionally hurtful and they do it once, that’s MEAN.
  • When someone says or does something intentionally hurtful and they keep doing it- even when you tell them to stop or show them that you’re upset – that’s BULLYING
