United Way Holiday Project
United Way of Martin County is the local coordinating organization for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program. For 35 years, we have spread holiday cheer by providing toys and holiday meals to more than 700 local families and 2,000 children each year through the United Way Holiday Project.

But we can't do it alone.

This huge undertaking is only possible by pooling the resources of hundreds of volunteers, community and civic groups, agencies, families, businesses and faith-based organizations.

Whether you give a toy, give your time or give your treasure, you can play a huge role in making the holidays special for local families who are struggling to make ends meet.

Together, we discussed strategies aimed at preserving and enhancing vital services for our community. At United Way, our mission resonates deeply with the commitment to understanding community needs and diligently addressing them. United Way of Martin County and its incredible volunteers had a brush-tastic time painting and beautifying Post Family Park in Indiantown with a Born Learning Trail.

As we dipped brushes into vibrant colors, the park became a masterpiece of fun and learning - where passion met paint, and creativity met community.

The volunteers didn't just paint the town red; they painted it with every color of the rainbow, leaving behind a trail of laughter for families to enjoy. Efforts weren't just a stroke of luck; it was a stroke of love that will be remembered for years to come.

The Born Learning Trail didn't just become a part of the park; it became a part of the community's heart. Thank you to all participants and supporters for helping make this happen!

Charitable Giving
To commemorate Giving Tuesday on November 28, we wanted to share a few unique ways to give back to the United Way of Martin County.

With the new year rapidly approaching, now more than ever, your gift can make a difference in changing the trajectory of lives. Many of our donors are making the most of their end-of-year gifts by giving tax-smart gifts instead of just cash. The next couple of weeks are crucial to both meeting our goals and helping you meet your financial goals for the upcoming tax season, so here are a few tax-smart ways to give back:

  • Give from your Donor Advised Fund: Use funds you’ve already set aside to give today. Every dollar given today can help expand our work in the future. If you have a DAF and would like to make an impact with United Way of Martin County, recommending a grant can make a world of difference today.
  • Our Donor Advised Fund Tool immediately notifies us of your intent to give via your DAF.
  • Donate Stock: By donating appreciated assets like stocks or mutual funds, you can bypass capital gains taxes and receive a full deduction for the fair market value of your gift, maximizing your charitable impact.
  • Our stock transfer instructions help initiate the process quickly and efficiently.
  • Give from your IRA: Donors aged 70 ½ or older can reduce their taxable income and satisfy their Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) by making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from their IRA directly to a qualified charity.
  • Our free QCD Calculator helps you determine your RMD, assess the tax implications of not meeting your RMD, and seamlessly initiate a QCD gift to United Way of Martin County directly from your IRA custodian.
  • Donate Cryptocurrency: Donating appreciated cryptocurrency can make an immediate impact while avoiding capital gains taxes and getting a tax deduction.
  • Our Cryptocurrency Tool makes it safe, easy and tax-efficient to donate your digital currency.

Giving through assets rather than cash can help supporters make a bigger impact. Your smart gift to United Way of Martin County this holiday season directly supports our work and makes a difference in the lives of many.

Embarking on a festive shopping extravaganza, the enthusiastic youngsters of our Students United program transformed into Santa's diligent elves during a heartwarming Walmart shopping spree, all in support of the United Way Holiday Project. Generously sponsored by Toys for Tots, each student was armed with a substantial $1,000 budget. However, there was a delightful twist—every chosen item had to be priced at $35 or less. This task proved to be an invaluable lesson, teaching the students the rapid accumulation of toys and unveiling the pressing needs within our own community. With carts piled high, our young volunteers passionately gathered an array of toys, preparing to bring joy to local children in need.
