It’s hard to believe we’re in the home stretch of 2021!  As we look forward to the magic of December, we reflect on last month, which featured successful programs centered around celebrating Indigenous Peoples, and organized through collaboration between the PTA and faculty:

  • Celebration of Native American Heritage Month at Greenville began with posters highlighting compelling facts about Native American ancestry, culture, innovations, and their impact on our collective history.
  • Instruction in the Library further explored our connections to Indigenous People:
  • K-2 students read We Are Water Protectors by Carol Lindstrom, and students signed a pledge to be Water Protectors.
  • Upper grades learned about the Trail of Tears in their Nearpod Digital lessons.
  • Fourth grade students experienced what it was like to use Native American tools in a hands-on workshop held outdoors with the Greenburgh Nature Center.

We can’t wait to share what’s ahead in December.  Until then, we hope everyone stays warm and cozy!
