Remember SHIP!
Find links to state-specific "SHIP programs" with information about local, personalized counseling and assistance to people with Medicare and their families. "SHIP" stands for "State Health Insurance assistance Programs". Each state has some version of a SHIP program with trained volunteers to help evaluate Medicare Health Plans.

Local is good! In 2010, American Express founded Small Business Saturday to help businesses. This day encourages people to shop at small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The single day has grown into a powerful movement and more people are taking part than ever before. This year, the big day is November 24th - LEARN MORE

Veterans Day is Nov 11th
The Veterans Day National Committee recognizes select Veterans Day observances throughout the country that represent fitting tributes to America's heroes serve as models for other communities to follow in planning their own observances.

The 2018 National Veterans Day Poster
Each year the Veterans Day National Committee publishes a commemorative Veterans Day poster. The poster is selected from artwork submitted by artists nationwide and is distributed to VA facilities, military installations around the world across cities and town in our nation.  It also serves as the cover of the official program for the Veterans Day Observance at Arlington National Cemetery.

28th Annual Poinsettia Tea fundraising Event

Duet, a local nonprofit organization, is presenting its 28th Annual Poinsettia Tea fundraising event. The event is open to the public. Hundreds of guests are expected for a traditional afternoon tea complete with scones, sandwiches, and sweets. The Carolyn Eynon Singers is the featured entertainment. Doors open at 1:15PM, programming starts at 2:00PM. All proceeds raised from the Poinsettia Tea will support Duet's vitally needed health and wellness services that are provided free of charge for family caregivers, grandparents raising grandchildren, homebound adults and faith communities. Tickets cost $70 per person, $37 of which is tax deductible. Tickets are available online at or by calling (602) 274-5022.
