Severe Weather and School Closings
A primary goal of West Allis-West Milwaukee School District personnel is to protect the safety and well being of students and staff. If severe weather conditions develop, a decision to close will be made only after carefully considering a number of factors. A decision to close will be made as early as possible, preferably by 6:00 a.m., so that students, parents, and staff members can be informed promptly. Communication is distributed as follows: each household will receive a phone call, a message is posted on the district website and social media, all major media outlets are notified. Read more...
Skyward is Live!
 Skyward Family Access is now available to parents with students in the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District! It enables you to make payments, update telephone numbers and email addresses, view student schedules and attendance, and student grades while logged in on any personal device! This important tool will help you monitor your child’s progress in school and allow for increased communication with teachers. Career and Technical Education Classes Preparing Students to be College and Career Ready
One of the primary goals of the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District is to ensure that all students are college and career when they finish high school.  Gwen Skoyen, K-12 Career and Technical Education Specialist explains, “One of the most important things we can do is to strengthen the connection between what students are learning in high school and their future careers. Whether that career requires an advanced degree or a welding certificate – our high schools are helping to produce more employable graduates through classes in Career and Technical Education.” Read more...
West Allis Police Department Announces Body Cam Program for School Liaisons, Front-Line Officers and Front-Line Supervisors
For years, the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District has had a strong partnership with the West Allis Police Department (WAPD). Some secondary schools have full-time police liaisons working in their buildings. All schools have officers who respond to calls when needed. Recently, the WAPD announced that all school liaison officers, front-line officers and front-line supervisors are being deployed with body worn cameras on a regular basis. Read more...
School Holiday Concerts Make Season Merry and Bright
The vocal chords are warmed up, the instruments are tuned, and WAWM School District’s talented students are ready for their performances. Hundreds of band, orchestra, and choir students at all grade levels present special concerts throughout November and December at their schools.

Frank Lloyd Wright Intermediate Hosts "Attend School With Your Child Day"
On Thursday, October 26, 2017, Frank Lloyd Wright Intermediate School welcomed over 200 parents/guardians to "Attend School With Your Child Day." This event promoted involvement in FLW's academic goals for students and the three beliefs that drive their school community.
Schools Honor Veterans
Friday, November 10, 2017 was Irving Elementary School's 2nd Annual Veteran's Day Celebration. Irving’s entire school community of students, staff members, and families packed the gym to celebrate over 50 veterans. The veterans honored were family members or friends of Irving students and staff members.

Upcoming No School Days
There is NO SCHOOL Wednesday, November 22, 2017 through Friday 24, 2017 for Thanksgiving Break. Classes resume on Monday, November 27, 2017.

There is NO SCHOOL Monday, December 25, 2017 through Tuesday, January 2, 2018. for Winter Break. Classes resume on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.
WAWM District, Recreation, and School Main Offices Closed on
December 27 and 28
Over the break, the computer servers currently housed at 1205 South 70th Street are being moved to 9333 West Lincoln Avenue. As a result, all telephone and internet services in the District will be suspended at 5:00 a.m. on December 26, 2017. Telephone and internet services will resume at 5:00 a.m. on January 2, 2018.

Suspended Services
  • School Main Offices, District Offices, and the Recreation Office will be closed on December 27, 2017 and December 28, 2017.
  • The telephone system will not be available for calls or messages.

Available Services
  • Building activities (e.g., basketball games, tournaments, Holiday Camps, etc.) will run as scheduled.
  • Skyward and email remain available for use outside of schools and district buildings.

Poster Contest
Students in grades K4 through 5th grade are encouraged to participate in the Attendance Matters! Poster Contest! 

As part of the “Every Student, Every Day” initiative, the school district and its community partners hope that families will embrace the importance of attendance at school.

WAWM RCS Non-School Day Camp
WAWM Recreation and Community Services will host a Camp for students in K4 through 5th grade during Thanksgiving break on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 and during Winter Break in December. The Camp is designed to provide all students with age appropriate activities that are engaging, stimulating, creative and fun. Daily activities may include arts and crafts, gym and outdoor games, field trips and more.
