Hall of Fame Inductees

The Kentucky Transportation Hall of Fame Committee is soliciting nominations for the 2024 Transportation Hall of Fame Class.

The Kentucky Transportation Center (KTC) established the Kentucky Transportation Hall of Fame in 1990 to formally recognize people whose professional contributions have significantly improved the safety, quality, and efficiency of the Commonwealth’s transportation systems. Both public- and private-sector practitioners are well represented in the Hall of Fame.

We are now inviting nominations for the next class of Hall of Fame inductees. If you would like to nominate someone whose dedication, leadership, and ingenuity have left an indelible mark on Kentucky’s transportation industry, please visit the Hall of Fame’s website. Here you will find background on the Hall of Fame, selection criteria, biographies of previous inductees, and a nomination form.

New members will be inducted at the Kentuckians for Better Transportation’s 46th Annual Conference on January 17th, 2024.

KTC Research:

Evaluating the Use of a Near-Miss Reporting Program to Enhance Employee Safety Performance

Using safety incidents and crashes to improve safety performance is an outdated and reactive practice in safety and health programs. One component of a modern approach to safety is a near-miss reporting program. This type of program tracks close calls or near misses that do not result in an incident or crash, but which often can be an early indicator that one may happen.

Results of this study suggest that many of the barriers that lead to a lack of near-miss reporting stem from the management level. Proposed suggestions to overcome barriers related to near-miss reporting include providing and/or requiring better near-miss training, making KYTC’s web-based reporting tool more well-known and accessible, and taking more visible corrective actions once near misses are reported.
