This month Habitat Heartland Ontario is gearing up for some exciting announcements about our upcoming builds in Drumbo, the County of Brant, and Brantford! We will also be introducing you to some of our future Habitat homeowners and sharing their stories.
In this newsletter, we are highlighting a future Habitat homeowner who has become a dedicated Brantford ReStore volunteer. He is also donating his hours to help other future homeowner families reach their required 500 volunteer hours as part of the Habitat homeownership program. Volunteers are the backbone of our organization, and we are so grateful for their work in our ReStores, on our build sites, and in our administration offices in London and Brantford.
Make sure to visit our 9 Habitat ReStore locations this month in Brantford, Listowel, London, St. Thomas, Simcoe, Stratford, and Woodstock to shop their special early holiday deals!
Thank you for your continued support, and stay well!
Brian Elliot, CEO Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario

Keeping climate change in mind in Cambodia
|
|
Earlier this year, Phala, Chariya and their four children moved into a climate-sensitive Habitat for Humanity Cambodia home they helped build in Cambodia’s Battambang province. Some of these climate-sensitive details include an adapted window design to increase ventilation, polycarbonate walls that let in more light and reduce interior heat by 80%, and large water tanks in a rainwater catchment system for home gardening.
Over the next three years, Habitat Cambodia plans to build 15 additional climate-sensitive houses in the province. Each home will be adjusted to meet the family’s distinct needs and circumstances.
