MANUFACTURER PRICE INCREASES AHEAD
The prices of PVC pipe, fittings and wire have already been extremely volatile in 2020, as companies deal with supply chain issues impacted by COVID and recent gulf coast hurricanes.

We have absorbed these fluctuations in 2020 to provide stable pricing for our customers. Manufacturers of pipe, wire and fittings have all announced substantial price increases beginning in December 2020.

Please be prepared to adjust your pricing upward in response to inflationary pressures.

Price increases are an opportunity - not a penalty.  They're an opportunity to readjust your profit structure. We encourage you to adjust your bid prices with current product cost data. Check in with us representative on large project needs.
FERTILIZE IN THE FALL FOR HAPPY CUSTOMERS IN THE SPRING
Remind customers that they need to have you apply fall fertilizer now for a lush green lawn next spring.

A final application of fertilizer before the onset of winter brings many benefits. It encourages root growth and allows the lawn to store food for winter. It also replenishes the nutrients used up over the summer and allows the plant to reestablish itself after heat stress. Most importantly, the energy that is stored from fall fertilizer promotes better spring green-up next year.

The Urban Farmer Store offers Down To Earth™ natural and organic fertilizers and soil amendments. They work with the microorganisms, fungi and organic matter in the soil to feed plants and stimulate growth. These natural fertilizers are carefully blended from the best sources of organic nutrients in ideal proportions without the use of synthetics, growth stimulants or low quality fillers like poultry waste. You can be confident that you are giving your customer the best product available, whether it’s a multi-purpose blend or a specialized soil amendment.
GET WATER FEATURES READY FOR FALL
Get your client's water features ready for autumn with these easy steps.

Fall task #1Keep leaves out of the pond. Cover the pond with leaf netting (available from Urban Farmer Store) until the majority of leaves have fallen.

Fall task #2Prep aquatic plants. After the first cold snap, cut back pond plants similar to other perennials.

Fall task #3: Invest in a floating thermometer for the pond to monitor water temperature to know when to turn UV clarifiers off and when to stop feeding fish. Once the water temperature drops below 55 degrees, unplug UV clarifiers for the winter, including the one housed in some low pressure filters. Algae won't grow in cold water. Koi cannot digest food when water temperature drops below 50 degrees. Ask us to recommend best colder weather water treatments. Bacterial treatments can be reduced in their effectiveness as pond water cools.
EXTEND YOUR SEASON WITH DRAINAGE SERVICES
An effective drainage system is a profitable part of any project that, if overlooked, can result in costly damage to a property, creating unsatisfied customers and fewer referrals. By installing a drainage system with every project, you have the opportunity to grow business while improving your reputation.

Most irrigation contractors already have the right tools and staff to add drainage jobs to their services. A small drainage job such as a catch basin could net profits of $400 or more.

National consumer research indicates that almost every home has some type of drainage problem that can be fixed easily with NDS drainage products. Research shows that 90% of contractor suggestions are accepted as work orders by homeowners - so simply by pointing out these issues to your clients, you can earn new business.

NDS helps contractors add drainage to their business mix by providing technical training, installation training and marketing materials. Learn about our upcoming online seminar below.
