December Golf Tournaments
|
December is almost here and with it comes two tournaments - the Camp Gordon Johnston Golf Tournament and Fundraiser and our annual Jack & Jill Tournament!
Camp Gordon Johnston Museum Benefit - December 7
Four player Select-a-Shot, Captain’s Choice or Team Scramble. All 18 Holes will be played as Par 3s. $320.00/team ($80.00/player) includes greens fees, cart fees, range balls and lunch.

Jack and Jill Tournament - December 14
Semi-annual tournament with a scramble format. $50 per person.

Thanksgiving Dinner
Thanksgiving is next week and we are celebrating with our annual Thanksgiving Dinner!
Join us as we give thanks with a special feast featuring a prime rib carving station, turkey, ham, fried shrimp, blackened fish, casseroles, salads, pies and more.

Friday Nights in December
This December, the Crooked River Grill is serving up one pound snow crab legs for the Friday night special!
Starting on December 6, the dinner special is $25 per person from 6 to 9 p.m. We hope to see you there!

The Crooked River Grill offers daily food and drink specials for both guests and members.
Sunday - Brunch & Endless Mimosas
9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Brunch is $13.95 for adults, $8.95 for children and includes an omelette station.
Monday - All Day Happy Hour
7 a.m. - 2 p.m. and includes a variety of drink specials including local craft beer.
Tuesday - Tacos & Trivia
Every Tuesday starting at 5 p.m.
Kids eat free on Tuesday nights with the purchase of an adult meal. Kids must be 12 and under. Trivia starts at 6 p.m. and is $1 to play. $10 taco platters.

Fruits of Labor
Today, I had the second highest compliment I have ever received. I got a call from the acting Superintendent of a course in Perry, FL. David said one of his members had played here several times over the last few months. He heard how good our course looked and particularly how good our greens are. Also, he heard about the progress we were making to this property. One comment that struck me as strange was when he said he had read some of my articles on the internet. I can only guess that comes from the stuff I write for our newsletter.
He will visit our property next Monday, with two of his Board Members in tow. They want help/advice for what they should do to care for their property. They don’t have much money, so they have come to the right place. LOL… I will advise as best I can. I will share the plan I have for our property, and stress that it must be flexible for the conditions that arise. They have the same turf on their greens as we do, so their plan should be similar to ours.
If that weren’t enough, I then get a text from Neil. He asked me to call a lady in East Point that wants to bend my ear. She wants to know how I keep everything so green? However, she is driving, so she will call me back. I do have the opportunity to tell her our successes are shared with my crew. Our failures are mine alone.
Word of mouth is the best advertisement. We are out there guys!! We are remote for some people, a road trip at best, and a difficult course for even skilled players. The word is?? We are worth the drive!!!
