Voter Election Guide

As the Akron-Canton region's voice of business, we understand how public policy can affect our regional economy’s success. New legislation, policies and regulations have the power to unleash or constrain our ability to grow businesses, hire new workers and build prosperity in the Akron-Canton region. Because of this, it is important for us to make our voices heard at the ballot.

The Akron-Canton Advocacy Alliance strives to provide our 4,500 collective members with exposure to candidates running for office and information on how and where to vote. Below, you’ll find a series of conversations we hosted with candidates running for state and federal legislative offices, focusing on each candidate’s background, their policy priorities, and how we can expect them to engage in various economic and workforce development efforts. We've also provided links to information on the candidates, voting, and other relevant resources from the Ohio Secretary of State, and the Boards of Elections from Carroll, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, and Tuscarawas counties.

If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to reach out to John Rizzo at jrizzo@akroncantonadvocacy.org or Alexis Raineri at araineri@akroncantonadvocacy.org.

ACAA Annual Candidates Conference & Leadership Reception

Last night, the ACAA welcomed Ohio's 13th Congressional District candidates Emilia Sykes (D) and Kevin Coughlin (R) at its annual Candidates Conference & Leadership Reception.

Attendees learned more about each candidate's policy priorities and campaign platforms and connected with various candidates, elected officials, and other key decision-makers, which will help them make an informed vote on Election Day! For those unable to join us, you can access recordings of each discussion below.

Local Levies: Local Issue #27 and Local Issue #40

This November, two local issues will appear on the ballot this November: the Akron Public Schools Levy (Issue #27) and the Summit County Children Services Levy (Issue #40).

In September, the GAC Board of Directors approved the recommendation to endorse both levy campaigns and began working with the campaign committees to promote and advocate each levy.
