Reflection Point Workshop

Finding ways to connect with others at work can be difficult 5when you’re stuck in a cubicle or limited to small talk before a meeting or in the hallways at work. When faculty and staff of varied ranks, roles, and backgrounds meet regularly to discuss narrative literature – facilitated by college professors – they share life experiences, explore diverse perspectives, shed familiar paradigms, and develop authentic connections.

The Wellness Program offers faculty and staff a unique approach to wellness through Reflection Point, which consists of the sharing of ideas based on great literature. The Reflection Point program builds community and enhances emotional and intellectual fitness. Reading groups, made up of a diverse cross-section of professors, administrators, researchers, and other staff, meet weekly for 12 weeks to discuss stories or books carefully chosen due to themes that inspire robust discussions on values, issues, and beliefs.

Learn more about this popular and engaging Wellness Program, whether or not you have participated in Reflection Point previously, at a special session offered on November 6 during the Virtual Benefits and Wellness Fair week. Past participants of Reflection Point and Wellness Program leadership will be present to share more about this experience which fosters community well-being at CWRU.

Join us on Monday, November 6, from 4-5 pm, in person at the Tinkham Veale University Center, Senior Classroom. Light snacks will be provided. Registration is encouraged, but walk-ins will also be welcomed. Bring along a friend who you think might be interested!

Seasons of Self-Care: Fall

Seasons of Self-Care is a four-part program which encourages participants to explore the year through a delightful set of seasonal signals focused on self-care. Throughout this year, we have focused on winter, spring, and summer. The program will now culminate with five sessions focused on self-care during the fall.

Engage in a season during which we honor the timeless turning of nature, and thus within ourselves: fall. Join Heidi Weiker in this chapter of our self-care journey. We'll reflect on and contemplate the beauty of impermanence in all things. We'll deepen our respect for the interconnection of grief and gratefulness. We'll honor the natural falling away while we enjoy the comfort and repose of fall.

Whether you are a returning participant or will be joining for the first time, we invite you to participate in Seasons of Self-Care: Fall. If you did not participate in the previous rounds of this program, we encourage you to view the recordings on this page.

This round of the program will be delivered in a hybrid format, meaning you choose whether you want to participate in person with Heidi at the TVUC or via Zoom (the fifth session is Zoom only). Use the links to the right to register according to your preference.

Monthly Wellness Incentive recipients seeking a Stress Management Wellness Program Incentive would need to participate in at least two iterations of the Seasons program, including via the recordings, which are available on this page.

Faculty and staff interested in earning the $25 Monthly Wellness Incentive in 2024 will also need to make sure their fall wellness activities are complete by Nov. 30, 2023. These activities must include the health risk assessment and at least two of these three activities: biometric screening, tobacco attestation, primary care physician attestation. Did You Know? Omada Health is Available to Qualifying Employees

CWRU faculty and staff who complete a biometric screening may be eligible to participate in a digital lifestyle change program from Omada Health at no cost to them. Specifically, those whose biometric screening results indicate that they are at risk for metabolic syndrome in 3 of 5 areas - blood pressure, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, fasting glucose, and waist circumference - will be invited to participate via an email directly from Omada.

We hosted a webinar earlier this fall so that faculty and staff could learn more about this program should they receive an invitation.
