NOVEMBER CELEBRATIONS

National Native American, American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month

November is a time to learn more about the diverse traditions, contributions and experiences of Indigenous communities across North America.

We encourage you to join upcoming programs honoring native traditions:

Weaving Stories / Tejiendo Historias

WED NOV 12, 4pm

Hands on reed basket weaving workshop / Taller práctico de cestas de junco

Vida y Cultura: Arte con Hojas de Maíz

SAT NOV 15, 10am

Descubre el arte y la tradición de la artesanía con hojas de maíz

You can also find great reads by Native authors in our staff picks for kids and adults!

Transgender Day of Remembrance

Transgender Day of Remembrance is commemorated each year on November 20, and is a day to honor the transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming persons who are targeted and killed for living authentically and courageously. Visit our altar in the Makerspace from from Saturday, November 14 to Sunday, November 23, which will honor these individuals tragically lost to violence.

Veterans Day

All Redwood City Public Library locations will be closed in observance of Veterans Day, November 11.

DINOVEMBER

Kids and families! Celebrate Dinovember with us in the Family Place! Search for six hidden dinosaur friends during your visit, then stop by the Children’s Desk for a small dino-themed prize. Don’t forget to browse our dinosaur books and take one home to continue the prehistoric fun.

You might just spot a dinosaur roaming the library—but don’t worry, it’s (probably) friendly. Teens in the Teen Center barely flinched when our dino-staff showed up!

KIWANIS FARMERS MARKET

We had the best time at the Farmers Market's annual Halloween event! The Kiwanis Farmers Market continues every Saturday in November, from 8am to 1pm on the 500 block of Arguello Street in Downtown Redwood City. Stop by the library table to say hello, chat with our friendly staff, and pick up a free book to take home. The final market of the season is November 29—don’t miss it!

Featuring a vibrant mix of agricultural growers, artisan food makers, prepared food vendors, handmade goods, and community booths. The Farmers Market is free and open to the public, and fun for the entire family.
