November 2020

Share What You Can for Our 10th Annual Holiday Food Drive
Our 10th annual holiday food drive is underway! To help fulfill this year’s tremendous need, we’ve partnered with Conlin’s Digital Print & Copy Center and other KOP businesses to serve as collection sites now through November 16. All donations will benefit the Upper Merion Area Community Cupboard (UMACC), a food pantry open to anyone who lives within the bounds of the Upper Merion Area School District and is hungry or food insufficient. With your help, we can support our most vulnerable neighbors and make sure that everyone has food on their table this holiday season.

The food drive will end with a bang on November 17 with our Stuff-A-Truck event in KOP Town Center from 9 AM - 4 PM. Join us for goodies from Founding Farmers and Starbucks as we fill a 16-foot box truck with food and household goods for our neighbors!

KOP Restaurant Week's Donation Total is In!
We’ve certainly seen some challenges during our annual retail and restaurant week over the past six years. Snowstorms, power outages…we thought we had seen it all. Then, 2020 hit. This year, King of Prussia Restaurant Week and KOP Shops for CHOP ran March 9-15, just days before a mandatory state-wide shut down due to COVID-19. With 30 fine dining restaurants on board, 10 fast-casuals restaurants, 21 retailers and 37 companies committed for our brand new Community Champions program, we had to make the difficult decision to end both events early.

Now, seven months later, we are proud to announce that with the incredible participation of our restaurants, retailers and business community, despite the challenges, we have all raised $40,000 for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). This brings our grand total raised for CHOP in the past 6 years to $152,500! The 2020 donation supports CHOP’s King of Prussia Specialty Care and Surgery Center, as well as its inpatient hospital that is currently under construction and slated to open in October 2021.

Phase One of the First Avenue Linear Park is nearing completion, and our most recent installations will have you saying "let there be light!" Recently we added 70 solar-powered LED pedestrian lights on both sides of the trail along First Avenue. Sitting at 12-ft high, these architectural area lights illuminate the path from dusk to dawn, using an innovative "self-learning" controller. The lamp adapts to the surrounding environment and with solar reserves, provides lighting throughout the evening, even on long winter nights.

Thanksgiving in KOP
Not up for fixing a Thanksgiving feast this year? Or maybe you're stuffed just thinking about a family gathering at home? Whatever the reason, KOP restaurants are serving up solutions to your Thanksgiving woes. We’ve rounded up a list of delicious Turkey Day alternatives, both dine in and take out, that will take the stress, hassle and, most importantly, the cleanup out of your Thanksgiving dinner. Celebrating made easy...Now that sounds like something to be thankful for!

Get More, KOP Gift Card Upgrade Ends in a Flash (Sale)!
Get More, KOP: Gift Card Upgrade Program's third and final round took place on October 20 and ended a shocking 6-minutes later. Round Three featured 1,000 gift cards from 48 King of Prussia retailers, restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues that went up for sale at exactly 12 PM. The two previous rounds offered purchasers an additional $10 with the purchase of any $25 gift card, but Round Three took it up a notch. For every $25 gift card purchased, we kicked in an additional $15, meaning customers spent $25 and got $40!

KOP Restaurants Combat the Cold with Portable Heaters
With colder months fast approaching, restaurants are forced to adapt yet again to these challenging times. Many restaurants in KOP expanded their outdoor dining spaces, or put up tents, to create a socially-distant and comfortable outdoor experience for their guests. Now, they’re hoping to extend the life of those outdoor spaces with portable heaters to help combat the cold. For the restaurants’ sake, let’s all keep our fingers crossed for a warmer winter!

Shopping Small in Upper Merion Township
As the holiday season is fast approaching, we hope that you and your family will choose to shop "hyperlocal" this year by patronizing the many fantastic businesses right here in Upper Merion Township (UMT). This year has been especially challenging for small businesses. They have worked tirelessly to adapt their businesses to continue serving their employees and communities. This holiday season, it's our turn to show them our overwhelming support. Here in UMT and King of Prussia, we take care of one another. This holiday season, let's take care of our local small businesses!
