Mondays at 10 am, starting in November!

Join us on Monday mornings for our newest imaginative play club! We have large, loose-part foam bones that kiddos can use for dinosaur-building. Dino fans unite! No registration required.


Pokémon Card Trading/Playing

First Mondays from 5:30-8:30 pm, starting in November

Drop in for some Pokémon fun on the first Mondays of each month! This event is all about informal card-trading and game playing, so you can stop in anytime between 5:30 and 8:30 pm on these evenings--no registration required. Bring your binders and connect with other Pokémon enthusiasts! For Pokémon players of all ages. 


Watercolor for the Birds (an all-ages offering)

Join the KC Zoo at the Library at Storytime on November 8, and get up close and personal with the natural world! In this special nature play Storytime, there will be sensory activities and stations for children to experience. No registration required! Best for kiddos 2 to 5 years old.

Come for the stories, stay for crafts + play!

And join us on Tuesdays @ 5:30 p.m. and Wednesdays @ 10 a.m. for our regular Pre-k Storytime! These sessions include read-aloud stories, songs/movement, and a super-simple craft/activity. If you want, plan to stay after the Wednesday Storytime for some Stay-and-Play time with LEGOS/Duplos. Storytimes are geared toward pre-k kiddos, but children of all ages are welcome.

The Library is accepting donations of non-perishable food items and certain clothing items all November long! Donations benefit Northland Assistance Center, which is located in NKC. Especially needed this year, per the NAC: men’s socks, underwear & gloves (all size Large). They are also currently in need of canned green beans, as well as dried mashed potatoes and pancake mix.

Sewing Studio: Intro to the Sewing Machine + Open Sew

Tues, Nov 14 from 10 am-1 pm

Join us for an intro class to our Janome sewing machine! Learn how to wind a bobbin and thread a machine, and get started with some basic stitching.


Have a work in progress? This session is also an Open Sew, so feel free to bring your WIP and get some stitching done! If you're making a stuffed bunny or bear with us, you can bring that project to finish and/or embroider.

Sewing Studio: Make a Stuffed Bunny or Bear (Session 2 of 2)

Sewing Studio: Make a Sewing Machine or Stand-Up Mixer Cover (Session 1 of 2)

Wed, Nov 29 from 6-9 pm

Come start a sweet project for your kitchen or craft room! We're making a cover for your sewing machine or stand-up mixer--great for keeping dust off of these workhorse appliances!


Please bring 1 yard of fabric for the outside of the cover, and 1 yard of a coordinating fabric for the inside of the cover.
