Thank you, Georgene, Tammy, and Rhonda!
Special thanks to Georgene Nelson, Tammy Mawyer, and Rhonda Lawhorne who served as “feet on the ground” for the department over the last several months while most staff members worked from home. Georgene, Rhonda, and Tammy assisted many people with on-site tasks that could not be completed remotely, and also took over distribution of the department mail. Without the dedication of these three people in particular, our department would not have been able to function as greatly as it has during the Covid pandemic. ~Jessica Copeland, Organizational and Engagement Manager

Thankful for Weekly Meals
When a child is sick and hospitalized, it can be stressful. The last thing on their parents’ mind is a healthy meal. We want to make sure that they get at least one healthy meal a day. The Children’s Hospital provides meals for families on the 7th Floor (inpatient Peds) - 1 meal a day, every day of the week. We've had very generous donations, both financial and in kind, to make this possible. Thank you to the businesses who have donated/discounted meals every month, especially since COVID-19.
Please be sure to thank the owners and staff and support their businesses:
Chick Fil A (Pantops), Mellow Mushroom (W. Main), PotBelly (W. Main), Panera Bread (Charlottesville), Pearl Island Catering (Charlottesville), Marco's Pizza (Charlottesville), and Morrison’s Catering (UVA)
A special thank you goes out to CJ’s Thumbs Up who has faithfully provided a meal every week through their Meal Fairies program. The UVA Children’s Advisory Board also deserves a shout out for their continuous support and contribution every month to our meals program.
It truly takes a community to make this possible! For more information or to get involved, please contact Karin Skeen or Annie Jessee.
