The City of Novi is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year and each month we are releasing a new video highlighting a part of Novi's history. This fifth video takes you back 40+ years when Twelve Oaks Mall was looking for a place to call home. The story includes a little bit of luck, a helicopter and the perfect location.

Bob's Discount Furniture opened in Novi last month in the former Toys R Us location in West Oaks II Shopping Center. The 47,000-square-foot store is the largest of four southeast Michigan stores and features an outlet center. Read more here.

Work to start in coming weeks at 12 Mile & Novi Road

A firm date has not yet been established, but work on the intersection of 12 Mile and Novi roads is slated to begin the week of June 17.

The Road Commission for Oakland County will be removing and replacing the concrete within the intersection in two stages.

During Stage 1:

One outside lane of 12 Mile will be open in each direction and only right turns will be allowed from southbound and northbound Novi Road.

During Stage 2:

One inside lane of 12 Mile will be open in each direction. Novi Road will be completely closed north and south of 12 Mile Road.
