Library Closure
Friday, May 25th-Monday, May 28th
The Library is upgrading to a new online catalog system (CARL) and will need to be closed to the public for an extended period of time to complete the installation.  Over 40 libraries in metro Detroit will be affected by this technology change-over.  The closure allows for millions of records (both patron and material) to be transferred successfully.  This date transfer is being done by consultants working with the library's consortium (The Library Network).  The new system will bring patron and material access upgrades that will be beneficial to our Novi residents when searching and borrowing materials.  Our current online catalog will be unavailable starting at 6pm on Friday, May 25.  Also in preparation for the migration to a new system, MeLCat services will be suspended on April 1, 2018 with a tentative resume date of July 1, 2018.  MeLCat requests will not be allowed during this period, but any previously checked out MeLCat items can still be returned to NPL.  Thank you for your cooperation as we get ready for our new system.  We apologize for this  interruption  in service, but we expect it to be a great improvement to our library and for YOU.
Summer Reading Kicks Off June 1 for All Ages!
We encourage all adults, teens, tweens and youth to join this year's Summer Reading Program beginning Friday, June 1 and continuing until Saturday, August 25.  Come into the Library or sign up online at novilibrary.org.  This year's theme is Libraries Rock!  We hope to see everyone reading, learning and enjoying the many activities the Library offers this summer!  Thank you to the following businesses and organizations for sponsoring this year's program: Paradise Park, Novi Community School District, Friends of the Novi Library, Diversified Members Credit Union, Town & Country Eyecare and the Goddard School of Novi!
Stop by a Read Box!
When you stop by Lakeshore, or ITC Park this summer be sure to take advantage of some great reads!  Designed to encourage summer reading for all ages, keep the book as long as you like and when done, return it to the Read Box or the Library.  The Read Boxes will be available until October 10, 2018.
June Assembly Day-Enabling the Future
The e-NABLE Community is an amazing group of individuals from all over the world who are using 3D printers to create free 3D printed hands and arms for those in need of an upper limb assistive device. Join us for another opportunity to assemble a hand for someone in need on Saturday, June 23 from 10am-4pm at the Library. To learn more about this handtastic partnership visit novilibrary.org. Sponsors for this project include Community Financial, Novi Community School District, Dremel, Novi Rotary and a gift in honor of Betty Rankin. Be sure to register for a time slot on the Library's program calendar.
