Arts Grant Applications Now Open

Deadline: April 1

Applications are now open for selected grant programs to arts and culture organizations, arts educators, individual, folk and traditional artists, and arts and health. One grant program for arts and culture organizations, called General Operating Support for Organizations, will open on Feb. 8.

The deadline to complete an application for all the grants being offered is April 1 at 11:59 p.m.

Be ready for the deadline!


The staff is hosting information sessions, office hours and application walk-throughs to assist with the grant application process. A RISCA Grant Writing and Budget Workshop covering all grant offerings will be an online event on Wednesday, Feb. 7, noon to 1 p.m. RSVP is required.


There will be two in-person Information Sessions: On Wednesday, Feb. 14, noon to 1 p.m., at the Rhode Island Indian Council, 807 Broad St., Providence. RSVP is required. And, on March 6, 6-7 p.m., at the Warwick Public Library, 600 Sandy Lane, Room 113, Warwick. RSVP is required.

Welcome Seamus Hames!

RISCA's new Arts Education Program Director

Seamus is an artist, educator and administrator. He holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and an MBA in Nonprofit Management from Johnson and Wales University. He's managed art programs in Rhode Island for 20 years with nonprofit organizations such as the Jamestown Arts Center and the Newport Art Museum and has created nationally recognized programs for neuro-divergent artists. He currently resides in Wakefield with his wife and their two children.

Latest Exhibits at the Airport Galleries

GREEN SPACE Gallery at TF Green International Airport and the Block Island Airport Gallery, a partnership between the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) and the Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC), now feature their winter/spring exhibits.


  • The artists at GREEN SPACE are, Mandy Howe, Portsmouth, Tiffany Mendez, Cumberland, and Izzy Rodriguez, Providence.
  • The artist at Block Island Airport is: Fior De La Cruz, Cranston.


Both exhibits run through July.

R.I. Department of Health offers competitive mini grants 

Deadline 4 p.m. on Wed., Feb. 7

 

Rhode Island Department of Health is offering three mini grants of $4,950 each that support demonstration projects that showcase the benefits of community design to promote physical activity. The program is to expand upon the Healthy Eating & Active Living Program’s Rhode Island Streets Transformation Project.


Grants can support a range of projects, initiatives and activities that get people moving. It's a simple application. Be creative and get your neighborhood or community engaged.
