Now Celebrating 37 Years of Service!

Dear Friends,

Mary and I along with our entire staff and Board of Directors would like to thank you for your support of Project IMPACT.

This year marks the start of a new chapter in the life of our agency with the launch of our mental health program. We have also received additional funding to expand our Family Preservation program throughout our Service Provider Area. We owe a debt of gratitude to our hard-working staff for resourcing and reuniting close to 900 families! I also want to welcome to our staff Dr. Heather Flores our Mental Health Program Director and Ms. Deborah Mayes our new CFO.

Again, thank you so much for your help and support. Looking forward to the great possibilities in 2023! The best is yet to come!

Blessings,

Drs. Matt and Mary Harris

THE START OF A NEW CHAPTER: OUR DMH PROGRAM

This marks the start of a New Chapter in the life of our Agency … we just launched our DMH program. We have been busy working with our core staff along with our HR company with hiring and training new staff, updating our personnel policies, outfitting our offices, outlining and providing staff training to include: EBP training, Exym Training, MAP, TFCBT, IPT, CANS and CalAIM documentation (whew!) … and there’s more! We will share more updates in future newsletters. As of July 1, 2023, we have begun our service delivery. This new chapter includes: Individual/group/family counseling, crisis intervention, targeted case management along with in-depth mental health services. We want to welcome all of our new staff that include: Supervising Clinicians, Associate Therapist, Case Managers, Peer Support Specialist, Billing Specialist, Intake Coordinator, Recruiters, and our Quality Assurance Specialist. This has been a long time coming and to say the least … we’re excited! We will keep you posted as things develop. Again, thanks for all your support in helping us reach this exciting milestone!

FAITH LEADERS

This November 2022 - Dr. Matt Harris (5th from the right) was invited by Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger (Fifth District) to meet with a select group of religious leaders to begin a dialogue about how we can better collaborate. Los Angeles County is faced with challenges of homelessness, unemployment and mental health needs where the religious community was brought together to explore ways we can better serve unserved and underserved communities of Los Angeles County.

TRANSFORMING LOS ANGELES

December 2022 - This marks the 2nd year of Project IMPACT’s participation in the Transforming LA program. The program was designed to help small to mid-sized agencies develop the capacity to contract with the LA County Department of Mental Health (DMH). As a result of the program, Project IMPACT recently became a “Legal Entity” with DMH that includes a $3.3M annual contract. Project IMPACT also just received its certification as a Medi-Cal provider from the state of California. This new opportunity will double our service capacity to reach unserved and underserved areas of Los Angeles County.

URBAN SUMMIT – ST. LOUIS

Bishop Raphael and Pastor Brenda Green of Metro Christian Center in St. Louis invited Drs. Matt and Mary Harris to keynote an urban summit on alternatives to youth violence. The two-day summit included meetings with church and community leaders to discuss the possibilities of establishing an IMPACT center in St. Louis.

HELPING NON-PROFITS THROUGH COLLABORATION

Bishop Ed Smith, former Pastor/Founder of Zoe Christian Center in Whittier, CA and CEO of the Nehemiah Project, hosted a workshop "Thrive in Seasons of Change" to help non-profits, churches and businesses build their capacity through collaboration. The Nehemiah Project works with Transitional Age youth who are transitioning out of foster care by providing life skills training, referral services, and help for former foster youth to connect with vital resources to achieve life success. Dr. Matt Harris was invited to share about the services of Project IMPACT along with ways to partner our mental health services with the Nehemiah Project.

NOT ONLY IS HOPE WITHIN SIGHT...
