The theme of the 2024 Bay-Delta Science Conference is “Cultivating Connections for a Dynamically Changing Environment.” Just as cultivation can nurture the development of a sapling into a tree and the growth of many trees into a resilient forest, connection and cultivation will magnify our positive impact as practitioners, inhabitants, and stewards of the Bay-Delta. Embracing connections across ways of knowing, disciplines, and geographies will be the key to meaningful adaptation. Science communication is essential.

Communication is essential to building the Delta science community and delivering pertinent information to scientists, decision-makers, and the public. Effective science communication transforms information into knowledge and knowledge into action. One way that the Delta Stewardship Council supports science communication is by hosting or co-hosting events, like the Bay-Delta Science Conference, that highlight research findings and provide important networking opportunities.
