Horton's Kids Community Resource Hub Is Officially Open!
Greetings!

Our dream of opening a Community Resource Hub in Southeast DC is now a reality!
Last Friday we gathered with Horton’s Kids friends, supporters, and community members to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Horton’s Hub. And what a celebration it was! See photos from the event here.
Angel Jones (Horton's Kids Board of Directors, and program alum) expressed how Horton's Kids has been a part of her family for years and shared enthusiasm about what the new building will make possible for local residents.
Pastor Rudolph Stewart (of the former space's New United Baptist Church) led an invocation and expressed his gratitude for Horton's Kid's continued commitment to serving the communities in Southeast, DC.
Horton's Kids Board of Directors and Advisory Council members gathered for a photo at the close of our Grand Opening Event. Throughout the afternoon, we welcomed more than 150 guests to the Hub.
The event marked the public launch of our Securing Futures for Southeast capital campaign—a critical $5M fundraising effort in support of Horton’s Hub. The Hub will help us meet the increased needs in our community, boost our programs and services, and serve hundreds more students and families in Southeast DC. With nearly 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space in Southeast, the Hub will serve as a central location to bring much-needed resources into the community.
I’m pleased to share that, thanks to the generosity of our early campaign supporters, we have raised $3.26M (65%) toward our $5M campaign goal to purchase, renovate, staff, and ensure the sustainability of the Hub. Phase One renovations are nearly complete.

Now we are calling on you, our generous community of supporters, to help us raise the remaining $1.75M to support programmatic expansion and complete Phase Two Hub projects like a playground, community garden, and storefront for our distribution center.
With your help, we can make sure that every child in Southeast DC has the resources they need to graduate high school, pursue their dreams, and build the life they deserve.
Thank you for being a part of the Horton’s Kids family and this exciting chapter in our history!

Sincerely,
Erica Ahdoot

Horton's Kids empowers children growing up in DC’s most under-resourced communities so that they graduate from high school ready for success in college, career, and life. We serve over 600 children and families living in Wellington Park & Stanton Oaks - neighborhoods that have been profoundly impacted by decades of disinvestment and barriers to opportunity. Your impact is dramatic: children in Horton’s Kids are twice as likely to graduate from high school.
