Respiratory Health Association (RHA) is now accepting nominations for the Solovy Award for Advancement in COPD. We invite you to submit nominations recognizing individuals who have made outstanding contributions to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) research to improve the quality of life for people living with COPD. The Solovy Award for Advancement in COPD was established by Kathleen Hart Solovy in memory of her husband, Mr. Jerold Solovy.
The recipient will receive $20,000 to fund professional efforts relating to COPD. Past awardees have used the award to fund COPD research projects and further COPD management education among staff members.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 18, 2021 by 5 PM Central Time.

Solovy Award Winners Make a Difference in the Fight Against COPD
Dr. Nadia Hansel, recipient of the 2021 Solovy Award, focuses much of her work on studying social causes of health-related risk factors for COPD — including poverty, obesity, diet, and indoor air pollution. This is especially important as COPD has been traditionally considered a smoking-related illness, with other possible risk factors not fully addressed. Her work has also produced groundbreaking research showing indoor air cleaners may improve symptoms and reduce the risk of COPD flare-ups.

The impact of Dr. Nadia Hansel’s research is significant – and is a reminder that lung disease research is historically underfunded. We are proud to continue supporting important COPD research.
