Hanover History Hunt Maps Due Beore Monday, July 6

Discover and explore Hanover's history in this all-ages scavenger hunt in collaboration with the Hanover Historical Society. Stop into the library and pick up a scavenger hunt map at either the children's or information desk, visit all 8 locations around town and learn about its history, return your map at the library before Monday, July 6, and be entered to win one of three Still North gift cards. Children 12 and under will additionally receive a free book upon completion.

LIttle Free Hood @ the Howe

Adults: Have you stopped by the Little Free Hood @ the Howe? Located in the New Books area, you'll find adult art kits supplied by the Hood. Take these kits home or do them at the library.


Join us for a drop-in art session on Wednesday, July 8 from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Highlighting The Little Hood @ The Howe art kits, we'll be learning how to make paints out of natural pigments. Materials are supplied in collaboration with the Hood Museum and is inspired by their current exhibition Animal, Vegetable, Mineral: Making Colors in Europe, 1400-1800. No art experience necessary!

Picnic in the Park Returns July 15

Join us for a series of Wednesday evening concerts perfect for children 10 and under. You bring the picnic; we will supply the entertainment. No registration is required. This series is co-sponsored by Hanover Parks & Recreation and Etna Library. Most events take place at Sustainability Park in Hanover.

In the Ledyard Gallery: “Finding Joy” by Marjorie Rose

Immerse yourself in "Finding Joy," a vibrant new exhibit by Marjorie Rose that aims to bring light into the darkness during these uncertain times. Described by Rose—a Taylor Swift fan—as the “Eras Exhibit” of her art journey, the show ranges from simple, joyful moments in people's and dogs' lives to colorful landscapes and abstracts. This exhibit is on display through July 29.

Hybrid: Investigative Genetic Genealogy and the DNA Doe Project: A Crash Course

Investigative genetic genealogy is an emerging technique that is helping solve cold cases and restore identities to unidentified individuals. Join us for a fascinating presentation by Chelsea Hanrahan, volunteer investigative genetic genealogist with the DNA Doe Project. Hanrahan will explain how genealogists use DNA research to assist law enforcement, share real-life case examples, and discuss ways the public can contribute to this important work.
