Join us at the Howe on Saturday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. for the Spring Soirée, the signature fundraising event that brings together library supporters and local businesses to help fund the Howe’s collections and programs. Local author and comedian Andy Borowitz will serve as host during the evening’s festivities. You’ll enjoy hors d’oeuvres and complimentary drinks by Maple Street Catering as well as live music by Grace Wallace and Friends. Purchase event and raffle tickets online. Get Ready for the April 8 Solar Eclipse!

Howe Library is getting ready for the upcoming solar eclipse. Stop by our display, located outside of the Garden Room, to learn more about eclipses. You can also join us at one of the following programs:


Join Sarah Peery, a doctoral candidate at Dartmouth College’s Department of Physics and Astronomy, for a discussion of the April 8 solar eclipse on Wednesday, March 27 at 6:30 p.m.

Join our Teen Librarian, Kim Baker, in a storytelling event as she shares tales from different cultures about eclipses on Monday, April 1 at 5:00 p.m.

The library has a limited supply of eclipse glasses available. Program attendees can receive a pair of eclipse glasses (up to 2 per family). After April 1, any remaining glasses will be available at the Information Desk in limited numbers to library cardholders only. Please contact the Information Desk with any questions about eclipse glasses.


You can find a drop-in solar craft at the table near the Children's Desk starting Monday, April 1.

Save the Date: 55+ Art Show Returns in May!

The 2024 55+ Art Show returns to the Ledyard Gallery May 5 - 29. This annual exhibit gives Upper Valley amateur artists who are 55+ a chance to share their creativity with the community. Please register your artwork by Tuesday, April 30 to participate in this year's show.
