Machine learning and education policy
In much of our current work we're exploring how we can leverage machine learning methods to provide students with more tailored educational pathways. We're also working to bring greater transparency to predictive analytics in higher education.

Personalized Pathways to Successful Community College Transfer
Many students who intend to transfer from a community college to a four-year institution do not successfully follow through on these intentions. To increase transfer among students in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS), we are developing an intervention that uses machine learning to provide students with personalized information about courses they can take to meet degree and transfer requirements.
Worth Its Weight in Gold? A Systematic Comparison of Predictive Analytics Methods in Higher Education

We're working to address this by systematically comparing common modeling approaches used to generate risk ratings.
We apply behavioral insights, data science, and interactive technologies to develop scalable solutions in education and public policy. Visit our website to learn more!
