Nursing Home Visit

Ridgeland Secondary Academy of Excellence MJROTC Cadets and Health Science Students from JCSD's Career and Advance Technology Education Center visited the Ridgeland Nursing Center to spend some time with our communities' elders. They chatted, laughed and sang songs. Hopefully, they are inspired to visit again or spend time with the elders in their lives!

Congratulations to our PAPER Tutor Contest Winners!!!

We are extremely proud of the scholars who won the PAPER Tutor Contest that took place from November 28th through Friday, December 9th. We want to congratulate them for their efforts. Using PAPER, all second through twelfth grade students had an opportunity to go online and take part in receiving tutoring assistance from a live tutor using the Review Center. The rules of the contest were to upload a question or any typed assignment in any subject to the Review Center to receive help. The support is provided 24/7 and free to the students in our schools. The top student user in the district received a $50 Amazon gift card and other students with at least two sessions were entered into a drawing to receive a $25 Amazon gift card. The gift card prizes were complimentary of PAPER! Our 1st place winner, Jaylen Anderson represented Ridgeland Elementary School. Our 2nd place winner, Zyian Wright represented Hardeeville Junior Senior High School.

i-Ready Data

Often times you hear about the many academic interventions that are at the fingertips of our students.

i-Ready is one of those academic interventions that our students use daily in JCSD. Students in JCSD are not only expected to reach their 'typical' growth goal but students are being encouraged to reach their 'stretch' goal.

While our district summative data may look dim, our teachers, staff, administrators, and students are working diligently to continue to provide academic intervention resources to support our students who need additional academic support.

In our schools, we are highlighting our grade levels and classes by noting the number of lessons completed and the percentage of those lessons passed in ELA and Math.

Pictured below is an example of how Ridgeland Elementary School is showcasing iReady Data for all to see.

A Call from the Principal's Office

In the coming weeks, if you have not already received your call, you will receive a call from the Principal's Office.

Our principals have been charged with meeting with individual parents to discuss their child's academic performance in Grades 3rd thru 8th and any student who is enrolled in End-of-Course Classes in Grades 9th thru 12th.

It will take all of us addressing the academic needs of our students.

Please take a moment and inquire if your child is performing at or above grade level. If he or she is not, please contact your child's principal to make an appointment.

We are willing to work with you to share our FREE academic online resources that you can work with your child at home to improve their academic performance.

We also offer FREE Academic Tutoring (online) via Paper Tutoring.
