Welcome to our November edition of Montessori Moments!

This month, we are focusing on nurturing independence and gratitude — two key values in Montessori education. As we head into the holiday season, we are reminded of how capable and kind our children can be when given the right environment to grow.

🏫 If Your Classroom Could Talk — What Would It Say About the Children in It?

Imagine walking into your #classroom first thing in the morning — the sunlight spilling over shelves, the quiet hum of possibility in the air.

Now, pause and think: If your classroom could talk, what would it say about the children who learn there?

✨ Featured Activities

🔍 Activity Highlight: Tiny Scientists’ Nature Investigation Tray

Spark curiosity and discovery with this hands-on exploration tray! Children use magnifying glasses, tweezers, and their senses to investigate natural treasures like leaves, stones, and pinecones. As they sort, observe, and describe what they find, they build early science and language skills while developing focus and wonder for the natural world — perfectly aligned with Montessori principles of independence and exploration.

🌟 Activity Highlight: Fuel & Feelings Jar

Help children connect their health and emotions to their ability to learn! In this simple activity, children choose a “Fuel” slip (how their body feels) and a “Feeling” slip (how their emotions feel) and place them in a jar. Together, the class reflects on how energy and emotions affect focus—and what they can do to recharge or reset. A great tool for building self-awareness and balance in any learning environment!

🔠 Language Corner

Children are exploring phonetic sounds using sandpaper letters and moveable alphabets. These tactile materials make early literacy engaging and fun! Try practicing letter sounds during daily routines — for example, “C” for “car” when you’re on the go.

🌞 Outdoor Exploration

Nature walks are an essential part of our Montessori philosophy. The children have been collecting autumn leaves, observing seasonal changes, and learning about hibernation. Encourage your child to share their “nature treasures” at home and discuss what they’ve noticed.

🧘 Grace and Courtesy

We’ve been practicing gratitude circles — each child shares something they are thankful for. These moments of reflection nurture empathy and mindfulness.

💌 With Gratitude, From the ChildCareEd Team

As the leaves fall and the year winds down, may we continue to nurture gratitude, independence, and connection—in our classrooms, our homes, and our hearts.
