"Growing up I spent so much time at Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito in various basketball programs, but I never stopped to think about how The Club was shaping those years,” said Cole Snider, our overall 2019 Youth of the Year. Nurtured by The Club, he learned the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and giving back.
“Now that I am older, I realize the programs that I participated in taught me valuable character traits. I learned how much The Club influences our community in a positive way, especially by providing a safe place for children who are not as fortunate in their living circumstances. The Club is a place of hope, opportunity, and learning. It represents all of the character traits I value: family, support, generosity, responsibility, honesty, and gratitude.”

Now a senior at La Costa Canyon High School, Cole has volunteered hundreds of hours in our Clubhouses and created a free basketball skills clinic with his brother for all Club kids. “BGC San Dieguito represents, to me, the best parts of myself, and I know that I will never forget everything that The Club has taught me, and that as I grow older those life lessons will only become more valuable.”

Since 1966, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Dieguito has helped local youth facing these issues. The Club gives kids a place to feel safe, a place to make friends, and a place to belong.
