September 2022

Until we can define inclusive pathways for Black and brown faces to participate meaningfully in the tech revolution – and every other business revolution happening – so we can change our own narrative arc and access to wealth, I won’t be satisfied.” - Luke Cooper

Join us virtually on September 29th for an inspiring and insightful Equity First interview with Baltimore-based entrepreneur, tech leader, and venture capitalist Luke Cooper.

In 2021 Mr. Cooper founded Latimer Ventures with the aim to elevate the experience of Black tech entrepreneurs, provide training curriculum and advisory services to BIPOC founders, and facilitate strategic connections between investors, Fortune 1000 acquirers, and high-growth companies.

Mr. Cooper sold his previous venture, Fixt, to Assurant for more than 11x revenue. He is only the second Black tech entrepreneur to see a company through to a successful exit in Baltimore.

Volunteer Career Mentoring

ABC's Volunteer Career Mentoring Program (VCM) is designed to meet the needs of low-wage workers of color who have a strong desire for career advancement but currently lack the career advancement skills that would ensure their upward mobility.

Mentors and mentees who complete our program repeatedly testify that they exit the program with a greater sense of confidence and a demonstrated impact of success and opportunity.

One of our mentees, CJ, shared upon completing a Career Development Plan that she "feels really empowered to become a better person, and more financially educated to pay my bills and meet my needs."

Becoming a career mentor is a hands-on way to fight inequity and help close the racial wealth gap. Are you ready to help? Contact Bernard Sims, Program Coordinator, for more information.
