The Community Eligibility Provision: What You Can Do

The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) is a new opportunity for high-poverty schools to offer breakfast and lunch free of charge to all students. All students deserve to be well nourished and ready to learn. Act now to ensure your students and schools benefit from CEP!

In the coming school year, CEP will be available to California for the very first time. Districts must apply for CEP by June 30, 2014 in order to implement the provision in 2014-15.

SB 1002 and SB 1147 Placed on Appropriations Suspense File

On Monday, April 28 SB 1147 (DeSaulnier) and SB 1002 (De Len) were placed on the Senate Appropriations Committee Suspense File due to potential fiscal impacts cited in the committee analysis. CFPA, our co-sponsors, and the authors are taking all possible steps to ensure SB 1147 and SB 1002 pass through the Appropriations Committee and onto the Senate Floor.

SB 1147 proposes the establishment of statewide, CalFresh performance goals and customer service standards. Additionally, SB 1147 requires the provision of publicly available, county-by-county measures of progress in meeting these goals and standards.
