New Analysis:
The Fiscal & Economic
Impacts of School Breakfast
Increasing participation in the School Breakfast Program is good for kids and good for the state.
A new analysis authored by experts at the Blue Sky Consulting Group shows that reaching more students with school breakfast would "generate economic and fiscal benefits that would offset over half the state General Fund costs" of providing reimbursements for additional meals.

With millions of California kids missing out on the health and academic benefits of school breakfast, we look to this fiscal and economic analysis to inform future policy solutions.

Join Action for Healthy Kids and Sanger Unified School District on Tuesday, June 3 at Jefferson Elementary School (Sanger, CA) to observe Breakfast in the Classroom and learn how the District has successfully brought these benefits to their students.

Happy 40th Birthday, WIC!
Join the CalWIC Association on Wednesday, May 28 at the California State Capitol to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the WIC program.

The two-hour festive and educational event will include elected and program officials, current WIC participants and "graduates," as well as healthy foods and multi-ethnic music and dance. The goal is to highlight WIC's activist history and evolution into a successful public health nutrition intervention that reaches over 60% of California's infants - the state's future.
