Stay Cool and Healthy this Summer!

Summer is all about fun in the sun, but don’t let that distract you from staying healthy and hydrated. Check out these tips!

1.       Drink Plenty of Fluids to Prevent Dehydration: Summer days can be hot, and dehydration can occur quickly. Carry a reusable water bottle with you to quench your thirst as you move through the day. You can get creative and give your water some flavor by adding some fruits or veggies such as lemons, limes, or cucumbers!

2.       Keep Your Food Safe This Summer: Food safety is key during the hot summer days, especially when planning for a beach day or a day in the sun. Don’t leave your food out of the fridge or freezer for too long in order to prevent bacterial growth that could cause foodborne illness.

3.       Have a Colorful Palette: Take advantage of seasonal fruits and veggies and eat a rainbow in a variety of ways. Add a pop of color to every meal.

Let's Get Movin'!

Summertime Staircase

Going up and down a set of stairs might seem like second nature but intentionally going up and down a set of stairs can make for a great way to break a sweat.

Find a set of stairs whether at work, home, or a public access field and complete 6 climbs (up & down = 1).

Harvest of the Month: Strawberries!

Strawberry Fun Facts:

Strawberries are an excellent source of vitamin C. A half cup provides 81% of what you need in a day! Vitamin C helps your body heal cuts and wounds, and it also helps your body fight sickness. Our bodies don't make vitamin C, so we need to get it from foods.

What to Look for:

  1. Look for plump, shiny berries with a rich red color, bright green caps, and a sweet smell.
  2. Store unwashed strawberries in the refrigerator for up to three days.
  3. Before serving, gently wash strawberries with cool water.
