2023 Summer Webinar Series: EVALUATION

Using Data Effectively in Federal Grant Applications


Jane Goeken will share her 35+ years of cumulated knowledge on creating successful evaluation plans for grant applications on Friday, August 11, at 12p CT. Useful information about grant applications, including data sources, collection and reporting, will be discussed while going through a real example.

Ms. Goeken will provide tips and practical examples on connecting your organization’s activities, goals and values to the purpose of the grant. Lastly, to ensure attendees are able to utilize the webinar’s content in their own grant writing experiences, the presentation will provide a template for creating a strong grant application.


Learning Objectives:

  • Identify at least one type of primary data that could be used in an evaluation plan for a grant project.
  • Identify at least one source of secondary data that could be used in an evaluation plan for a grant project.
  • Collect secondary data related to senior nutrition programs for your specific community.

Are you with an Area Agency on Aging (AAA) or local service provider, providing meals and other nutrition services for older adults? Then this opportunity is for you!

Join the Nutrition and Aging Resource Center for our next Connections Chat call to meet and interact with peers from across the nation. This is your chance to discuss topics that interest you, ask questions, and learn from others who are right where you are, serving older adults in their community. The time is used for small group discussions where call participants will be in Zoom breakout rooms and free to discuss whatever would be most beneficial to those in the group. Our next call will be held on Thursday, August 31 from 3:00-4:00pm CT.

Dietary Guidelines for Americans


The next meeting of the 2025 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC) will be held September 12-13, 2023. This is the third meeting of the DGAC and will include time for oral public comments.
