Benae Jackson is the Older Adult Nutrition Program Manager for the Division of Aging and Adult Services at the Mississippi State Unit on Aging. Benae has a passion for her work and is finding ways to engage Area Agencies on Aging within her state to best serve aging Mississippians.

Every March, ACL recognizes its Senior Nutrition Program which has supported nutrition services for older Americans since 1972. We celebrate the many accomplishments of the national and local programs, we promote how nutrition services support independence,

and we highlight important topics in senior nutrition.

National Paralysis Resource Center Mindfulness and Yoga Capsules Training


The National Paralysis Resource Center — operated by the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation — is announcing a free virtual series that equips caregivers and health professionals who serve persons with paralysis with sets of one- to five-minute mindfulness and yoga techniques (“yoga capsules”).


There are three sessions that will be led by Jay Gupta, RPh, 340B ACE, MTM Specialist, C-IAYT:

  • Body: March 4, 2023
  • Breath: March 18, 2023
  • Mind: April 1, 2023

Each session is provided live and online using Zoom from 11:00 AM-6:30 PM ET and provides up to six continuing education credits for various health workers. Join for one or more of the days.

Healthy Eating Research 2023 Call for Proposals


Healthy Eating Research, a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, is funding research on supportive family policies and programs that have strong potential to impact equitable access to nutritious food in communities, nutrition security, diet quality, and improved nutrition and health outcomes.


Apply by April 5, 2023.

FNS Awards $50 Million for Improving Seniors’ Access to Locally Grown Foods, Strengthening Supply Chain Resilience


Fifty million dollars in grants has been awarded to 47 states and tribal organizations to expand and modernize the Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program. This means better access to fresh produce for aging adults!
