MEMBER UPDATE: Federal Court Strikes Down Department of Labor Overtime Rule
On November 15, 2024, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas struck down the Department of Labor's (DOL) final overtime rule, which was set to raise salary thresholds on January 1, 2025. The ruling is effective immediately, meaning the increased salary threshold from July 1, 2024, is no longer enforceable, and automatic increases will not occur. The current salary threshold for exempt status under the Executive, Administrative, and Professional exemptions remains $684 per week ($35,568 annually), and the Highly Compensated Employee exemption is $107,432. The court ruled that the DOL exceeded its authority by focusing solely on salary rather than job duties to determine overtime exemption eligibility.

WRTP |BIG STEP's Renovation Plans
Greetings,
I wanted to give you a first look at the plans for a major (and much needed!) renovation of our Milwaukee Center of Excellence. We’ve put together this lookbook to show you some renderings of the new public and vocational training spaces, all aimed at modernizing our historic building to better function for the thousands of participants we serve each and every year.
The renovation coincides with our 50th anniversary next year, and construction is scheduled for completion by September 2025 so we can show off the new space at our 50th Anniversary Celebration. We have a lot of work to do in the next nine months, and this is where we need your help.
As the only apprenticeship readiness training center located within the city limits, we are dedicated to updating our facility to serve our community for the next 50 years. Will you consider supporting our renovation with a sponsorship or naming opportunity?
Partner with us to mentor the future generation – and ensure your company name is at the forefront of our participants’ life-changing career journey. Together, we will connect Wisconsinites to family-sustaining jobs and ensure Wisconsin remains a leader in forward-thinking workforce solutions. Join us in being a change-maker to impact the next 50 years.
Sincerely,
Lindsay Blumer, President & CEO
