Nuts and Bolts of Arbitration - Construction Arbitration

The Construction Arbitration session in the Nuts and Bolts of Arbitration series offers a focused, practical look at resolving disputes unique to the construction industry. Join speakers Michael R. Powell (Regional Vice President, American Arbitration Association) and Jason M. Adams (Partner, Cox, Castle & Nicholson LLP) as they explore the entire arbitration process, from filing a claim to the final award, through the lens of complex construction projects and their contractual dynamics. This seminar will highlight critical issues such as project delays, design defects, and payment disputes, and demonstrate how effective arbitration strategies can bring clarity and resolution to multifaceted construction conflicts. Attendees will leave with a deeper understanding of both the procedural flow and the specialized considerations that define construction arbitration.

The Nuts and Bolts of Arbitration series offers a practical overview of the full life cycle of arbitration and mediation cases. Each session will focus on a different case type—commercial, employment, construction, international and consumer—and walk through every stage of the ADR process, from filing and initial responses to discovery, hearings or mediation sessions, and ultimately awards or settlements. Participants will gain both a general understanding of how ADR works and insights into the unique considerations that shape each type of case.
