MAYA HARRIS '84 PUBLISHED IN THE ATLANTIC ON COVID-19 AND HEALTHCARE INEQUITIES
Maya Harris '84, a San Francisco-based civil rights advocate and attorney just had her article "Some Patients Really Need the Drug That Trump Keeps Pushing" published by The Atlantic . Maya is also among those who have lupus, a serious health condition for which hydroxychloroquine is an essential part of treatment. NEW NOVEL BY CAITLIN CHUNG MCCARTHY '06
Caitlin's first book, Ship of Fates , was pub lished by Lanternfish Press this month. The novel, set in California's Gold Rush era and San Francisco's Chinese immigrant community, is a coming-of-age fairytale that reflects the lives of generations. Learn more

Dr. Jaseon Outlaw '96 was recently on ABC10 to offer viewers mental health advice during COVID-19. He answered questions on a host of topics, from managing a work/life balance to bringing a sense of normalcy back to our lives.

Student Ambassadors Send a Message to Class of 2024 Despite challenges presented by shelter-in-place, we have found new ways to welcome the Class of 2024 this spring. Dragon Ambassadors (student leaders for our Admissions team) created a video, the class was sent t-shirts and the class is sharing selfies wearing their new O'Dowd swag, and we are hosting a virtual event for families May 9 to welcome them and share fun facts and stats about our newest Dragons! Caring for Community: Health and Wellness Guide O'Dowd has continued to support our students and families with services that contribute to their success and well-being during this remote learning period - academic support, counseling, technology, library, and health and wellness. With a strong understanding of the emotional toll shelter-in-place has presented, this month we released a Health and Wellness Support Guide and hosted a virtual event for parents to share their experience and hear from our leaders in Counseling and Health and Wellness. Donald Pouliot ‘66 recently made a gift in memory of his brother David Pouliot ‘65. Donald shared that the older he gets, the more he appreciates his O'Dowd experience. Donald is semi-retired in the Law Enforcement Breathalyzer and Drug Testing industry and is a full-time hired hand at his small rescue horse ranch called "Morgan's Run" outside of Charlottesville, VA. Donald credits his wife Catherine with keeping him grounded since leaving California in 1981.
Carnetta Jones Turek '74 made her directorial debut, for the film Puzzled, at the Golden State Film Festival last month. The film Puzzled is a compelling story about teens living in a foster care group home who struggle to become a family.
Emma Cronin '13 , reports that the transition to digital learning is going well for her students at Alisal Elementary in Pleasanton. Emma reports she has created interactive assignments including an online history scavenger hunt, partner-based video-chat math work, and time for students to work on a passion project each week. Emma is also asking her students to show their thanks to the doctors and nurses keeping them safe. Her students are making videos, cards, and posters to distribute to hospitals throughout the Bay Area
Antoneil Carter '17 earned a 3.9 GPA in her first quarter at UCLA. Shortly thereafter, she secured a coveted internship position this summer at Facebook's corporate headquarters as a Product Development Specialist.
