OSCAR-WORTHY: JOSH STAUB '93 is an award winning artist and filmmaker for Walt Disney Animation Studios and a faculty member in USC's prestigious School of Cinematic Arts. In 2018, he was inducted into the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (Oscars) for "exceptional accomplishments in the field of theatrical motion pictures." TECH FOR TEACHING

BATTLE FOR THE BAY, VOLUNTEER AT THE LIVING LAB, AND HONOR THE SEASON OF CREATION
 This season, all are invited to join O'Dowd in prayer, advocacy, and action to protect our common home. From September 1 to October 4, faith communities worldwide unite for the Season of Creation. This imperative of care for the earth is emphasized by Pope Francis in Laudato Si, and this season our community is stepping up in a number of ways.

A Columbia graduate who earned her JD from Stanford Law School, D'Lonra Ellis was just promoted to Vice President, General Counsel for Oakland Athletics. D'Lonra's expertise was described by Oakland A's President this way: “D’Lonra’s passion for the A’s and vast expertise will be critical as we move toward our goal of building a new Oakland waterfront ballpark and continuing our focus of being a best-in-class organization."

More Theatre! This year, we're increasing our performing arts offerings with three productions. This fall, audiences will enjoy Godspell , a classic musical that dramatizes Jesus' life with his most important messages of love and forgiveness as well as his ultimate betrayal. Cabaret --a play whose themes are more relevant than ever in our socially turbulent times--will grace the stage in January. Stay tuned for our spring production! Scholars and Athletes: Sean Pletcher '20 and Sterling Stokes '20 Sterling Stokes was featured in the East Bay Times' Fab 40 for his achievements in the classroom and on the field. Sean Pletcher '20 was among 10 LAX players recognized by the Northern California Chapter of US Lacrosse as All-Academic, the "highest achieving scholar athletes in the Bay Area lacrosse community." Tamarik Rabb '17 is starting at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business this fall. After excelling in community college, he earned offers at UC Irvine, USC, UCLA, Georgetown, Cornell, Columbia (waitlist) UC Santa Barbara, and Cal. He captured the moment he learned about the UC Berkeley decision on video--and we are so glad! Get Inspired--watch Tamarik's Cal acceptance video!
Dr. Trevor Mitsuki Fujinaka '08 completed his Periodontal residency with a Masters of Science in Dentistry and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Standing in Periodontology from Boston University's Henry M. Goldman School of Dentistry. Trevor has now joined his family's practice in Oakland.
Matt Betinelli-Olpin '96 is the Director of Ready or Not , a horror film now playing at a theate r near you. Matt earned his B.A. in Film from UC Santa Cruz in 2000 and worked for New Line Cinema as he built his career. When not directing a major film, he leads Radio Silence, a DIY filmmaking collective and production company specializing in high production values at a modest budget.
