St. Katharine Drexel

St. Katharine was born in Philadelphia in 1858. Her family was quite wealthy and she is known for being extremely generous to the poor. In one story, she gave her most favorite doll to another little girl who didn't have a doll. She is the patroness of racial justice.

O'Hara's Roof Maintenance
As many of you are aware, O'Hara has been experiencing roof leaks attributed to our aging roof/building. It was our hope to wait until this coming summer to re-roof the main wing of the building. However, upon further investigation, and with advice from our contractors, it was necessary to complete this maintenance sooner in order to mitigate damage from the leaking. The roofing began on Thursday, Feb. 15, and was completed this past week. The new roof spans the main hallway section of our building that parallels 18th Ave.

Thank you to Evergreen Roofing for their flexibility and willingness to work through the long weekend in order to minimize the noise and disruption to our school days. And, THANK YOU! to our donors who have so generously given to our Archbishop O'Hara Annual Fund over the last three years and provided the necessary funds for our repair; your support is a blessing.

All O'Hara families who receive subsidy from St. Mary are required to attend one of the mandatory meetings. If you missed the meeting this morning, it is required that you attend the March 4 meeting. It will be held  following the 9am Mass. If you have questions about this requirement, please call the St. Mary Parish Office at 541-342-1139.

Lunch Program Update: SALAD BAR trial run in March
Beginning on Monday, March 5, and extending through Friday, March 16, our Hot Lunch program will run a 2 week Trial Salad Bar. Pricing will be the same as the current Hot Lunch prices of $3.95 for Preschool through 3rd grade and $4.95 for 4th through 8th grade, early ordering discounts apply. It will include a trip through the salad bar and a whole wheat roll. Milk is an additional 50 cents. The salad bar will be stocked with traditional salad bar fixings, and a daily protein item of chicken, ham, beans, or hard boiled eggs. Annual lunch plan members should watch for an email from Tracy that will include instructions on placing a salad order for their student.

We are excited to try the Salad Bar! Depending on demand, it may continue after spring break. Please contact Tracy Whalen with any questions; the best way to reach her is via email: twhalen@oharaschool.org
