Students who have purchased the annual lunch plan will receive 2 slices of pizza and a drink. Extra slices are available to purchase for $1/slice.
Uniform Shorts Reminder
A reminder that students in grades PreSchool - 5th are not permitted to wear shorts between November 1 & Spring Break. Middle School students may wear shorts year round.
O'Hara's Front Parking Lot
We would like to request that if you park at school between 10am - 2pm, please refrain from parking on the upper black top near the Middle School Wing exit & basketball hoops. We are limited on basketball and four square space and we want to make sure students are safe and not playing in between or around cars.
We are so grateful for the volunteers and visitors at O'Hara, and thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Jog-A-Thon Pledge Payments
Jog-A-Thon bills were mailed out last week. We are asking that you please follow up with family and friends that pledged your student(s). Payments can be mailed to O'Hara or paid online We appreciate your assistance in helping us gather all payments promptly!
2017-18 O'Hara Directories
School Directories went home with students this week. If your family has 2 households, and you need a 2nd copy, please stop by the office to pick up an extra copy.
Planned Vacations & Absences
If your family will be taking an extended vacation over the Thanksgiving holiday, please send an email to Barb so she can mark your student(s) out. Thank you.
¿ Preguntas?
REMINDER:  We ask that parents communicate with students each morning if they will be having hot lunch and/or milk. Our homeroom teachers ask for a count each morning, and the kitchen relies on this information to prepare the correct quantity of food each day. Thank you!

We could still use a few volunteers with flexibility on days, and a sub (someone we can call on if we have a volunteer who cannot make it due to being sick, etc.)  Please let Tracy Whalen know if you are able to help.

During the upcoming Christmas & Thanksgiving seasons, we invite our families to take part in our school-wide community giving drives. Please read below for the details. We hope your family will consider supporting these causes in whatever capacity you are able. Thank you for partnering with O'Hara to teach and encourage generosity & charity to our children.

Ham & Turkey Donations for St. Vincent de Paul (Nov. 9th & 17th)
On Thursday, November 9th and Friday, November 17th, from 7:45am - 8:30am, O'Hara will be accepting donations of turkeys and hams on behalf of St. Vincent de Paul. These donations will be distributed to local families in need for their Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners.

Toys for Tots (November 13 - December 4)
At   our Monday Morning assembly on November 13, we will officially launch our annual Toys for Tots Toy Drive.

Toys for Tots is an official activity of the United States Marine Corps. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

We hope your family will join us in our efforts to help the Marine Corps and our local fire departments to collect and hand out toys to children in Lane County this Christmas season.

Helping our own
Every year, O'Hara collects gift cards that are distributed to help our own O'Hara families in need. If you are able to contribute gas gift cards, grocery store gift cards or gift cards for clothing or toys, please drop them at the front office for Mrs. Conway by Wednesday, December 13th.

Please help us be good neighbors!
We have been made aware of some close calls between cars and the pedestrians & bicyclists that use 18th Avenue at the same time as our pickup and drop off hours. We understand that these are extremely congested times for traffic at our school and that families are often in a hurry to drop off or pickup.  However, we ask that you please remember that it is the legal responsibility of drivers to heed the right of way to pedestrians and bicyclists in crosswalks and bike lanes.
November tuition payment will include $150 registration fee for some families
Some O'Hara parents elected the option to pay their $150 (2017-18) registration fee with their November tuition payment. If you elected this option, the $150 will come out on the same date that you have requested your tuition payment to be made: November 1, 2017 or November 15, 2017.  If you do not remember and need to know, you may contact Rebecca Plant at the business office.
Praesidium will now send you a link to renew your background check when you are due for a new one. You will need to follow the instructions from Praesidium as well as make payment to O'Hara for $15.00.

Returning volunteers:
All returning volunteers are required to complete the  Safe Haven Safety Training . Follow the links for instructions:   ENGLISH   /   SPANISH .
